As she was adopted by Samuel B and Ida M Stegeman of Gettysburg‚ SD. The story I was told was that my adopted grandfather had a friend from medical school that delivered babies at The Willows (home for unwed mothers) and he found my mother for the Stegemans. When my mother was born‚ my adopted grandmother took a train from SD to Kansas City to pick up my mother. My mother was 8 days old when she went to South Dakota.
