2384. AliyahK : My late mother who passed on in January 2020 at the age of 80 was adopted shortly after her date of birth, Oct. 17, 1939 at the Willows Sanatorium, a home where young women could stay during their pregnancy until their recovery from childbirth. I am seeking any information possible about Mom’s birth mother or birth father. I have done a maternal dna which was interesting but produced no results as to actual relatives to my Mom. So here I am still searching after many years. I am the only living child of my mother who was called Baby B. At the Willows. The witness to her birth was listed as Helen Steele. I did get to see a copy of that document after my Grandma and Grandpa (Mom’s adopted parents, Minnie and George Roberts) had both passed on. There was a letter in the lockbox with the adoption birth certificate listing the adoptive parents only. The letter stated that my Mom’s birth mother was of Irish descent, about 19 years old,, 5 ft’ tall, 95 lbs., with light broun hair. The birth father was described as of English descent, about 5’10" tall, with dark hair and eyes of med complexion, and he was a construction worker who had brothers working for a railroad company and 2 sisters. His father had been a farmer but he died of a stroke. The birth mother’s father was in banking.
