1071. Shawngoss : Born at the University hospital in Charlotte NC. Birth mother reportedly 19 yrs of age. Biological father was going into Air Force. Birth mother not from North Carolina but from "a state not normally considered a southern state" as was told to me by the Catholic Diocese. Mother and father met at a movie theater where they both worked over the summer. Mother was living with aunt and uncle at time of my delivery.
1074. Eagleacoutmom : I know that NC is a state that still deals all adoption records, so its sites like this, ancestry, 23 & Me etc to help.
My parents married in 1964 and started trying to start a family shortly thereafter. After several years of no success, they were told they would not be able to concieve. They then decided ro adopt. They went through Martin County, NC DSS. My brother was adopted via Childrens Home Society in Tarboro, NC (Edgecombe County). Our parents were from Williamston, NC (Martin County). They picked him up/brought him home on June 11, 1970. He was just shy of 5 months old. We were told that his bio parents were 19, college students, unmarried, and not in a position to raise a baby.
Our parents were then able to concieve and give birth to 3 biological children.....me (b 1972), a boy (b. 1981) and a north boy (b. 1983). We all have known about my older brothers adoption since day 1(I dont ever remember a time I didn’t know). Our parents were killed in a car accident in 2008 and it was after that that I started thinking about my brothers bio parents. He has 2 children (a girl 21, and a boy 17)
1075. Frida79 : I was adopted on April 10th, 1979 from the Children’s Home Society in North Carolina, not sure but possibly in Greensboro. I was born on January 31st in North Carolina 7:52am and weighed 6lbs,5oz.
1076. Tgannon1423 : My name is Tierney Gannon. I am looking for my half-sister who was born in April 1995. Her parents are Patrick M. Gannon and Abigail L. Haw (now Phelps), who met at Morehead Staate University. I do not know my sister’s name since all documents that I have access to only list her as "Baby Girl Haw" or "Haw."
1077. Yevette1225 : My son was born at the Charlotte Memorial Hospital on Blythe Blvd. It was a closed adoption because I was told that would protect him. I was only 16‚ soon to be 17 years old. I was scared and so confused. I had no choice but to choose adoption. I have lived my whole life with a piece of my heart missing. My prayers‚ hopes and dreams have been that he was adopted by a wonderful family who has loved and adored him.
1079. Vonyamonet : My name is Lavonia Mone’t Pridget. At birth it was Lavonia Mone’t Boggs. I was born in Erie PA. My birth mother name is Sheila Boggs, I applied for a SS card when I was 16 and somehow received the name on paperwork. I don’t know anything else.
I was matched with my birth mother just minutes after setting up my profile. It turns out that she had been searching for me for years. It's been a joy to connect with her and the rest of my biological family.
