2158. DebraCampbell : My sister was born at Duke Hospital in Durham County‚ North Carolina. The adoption was a closed adoption and the paper signing took place in an attorney’s office. Though the adoptive couple had agreed that they would bring my sister to the paper signing‚ they did not keep their word. My sister could talk at this point. There would be no hugs‚ kisses‚ or goodbyes as promised. My Mother had prepared a letter for her daughter so she could contact her when she became an adult. But given the fact they did not keep their word‚ she felt her daughter may never know that she was adopted or there had been a letter for her.
