1331. Savvii74 : Born in Manning River district hospital. Mum was 18. She had me and left me in the hospital. I ended up in a children’s home in Bondi called Scarba House for Children when I was 3 months old. I was adopted a few weeks later.
1334. Lescarb : I was initially fostered from 1 month old and subsequently adopted in 1956-57. My mother‚ Helen Marie Buckton‚ wanted me back after being fostered however the minister for welfare said that my foster parents could adopt me. Helen was forced to sign the adoption papers.
Helen requested to see me once before she signed the papers. This meeting took place at Kogarah I think in a government office.
Helen had then given birth to my younger brother‚ Peter Owen Buckton‚ whom I’d also like to meet.
I have searched extensively in Sydney and Hunter Valley for Helen and Peter to no avail.
Helen’s parents‚ James and Flora Buckton had a poultry farm and shop on Pacific Highway‚ Gateshead‚ Newcastle‚ NSW.
Helen had 2 older sisters and a younger brother.
Helen had a severe motorcycle accident in 1954 as a pillion passenger. The driver of the motorcycle was Mr Tedesco. Both Helen and Mr Tedesco were taken to Hunter Valley Hospital.
I was matched with my birth mother just minutes after setting up my profile. It turns out that she had been searching for me for years. It's been a joy to connect with her and the rest of my biological family.
