I was born at the royal women’s hospital in Paddington and Francoise was living in Surry Hills.
I was adopted through the Benevolent Society. Claire Elizabeth Lawrie was the social worker involved with Francoise and my adoption. My biological father was possibly American visiting Sydney during 1965-1966 and may have been a serviceman in the US forces. We believe Barbara visited this man in America whilst pregnant but returned to Australia alone and delivered me 2months later. I do not know this mans name. We believe he may have been from San Francisco. We have no other details. Barbara was a trainee nurse at Nepean Hospital in Western Sydney and her parents were Jack and Lorna Swales who lived at St Mary’s. Barbara had 2 younger sisters - Mona and Linda. It is thought this man accompanied Barbara to the Lady Mayoresses Ball in October 1965 at Town Hall‚ Sydney.
