I have a copy of his original birth certificate, he was born in St Andrews Church in the sub district of Bow and Bromley in the Metropolitan Borough of Poplar. He was given the name Stephen which was later changed when he was adopted. His birth mother was Elizabeth Mary Martin, formerly Neish.
She lived at 61 Manor Park in Lewisham, there’s no information about the father.
The birth was registered on 17th September 1952.
