715. Hollgo : I am searching for my mother’s birth mother, and/or any of her family members. My mum was born in Hackney, London in 1945 to a Constance Voss (maiden name was Waddell, and her family came from the Newcastle/Durham area). Constance’s husband, Richard Voss, was not the father of her new baby, and he divorced her upon returning to find his young wife was pregnant. My mum’s biological father is unknown, and is not named on birth certificate, but given that it was 1944 when my mum was conceived, it’s likely to be impossible to ever find that part out... GI’s were all over the UK, and Constance served in one of the women’s corps (unknown field) and is believed to have been based in London at the time. My mum passed recently, and we had spent decades trying to find Constance or any of her family member, assuming she remarried in the UK and had a family of her own after the war. Alternatively, she might have met an American soldier (who could even be my mum’s biological father) and returned to the states with him later on.
