412. Asavandyke : Hi,
I am searching for my paternal grand mother, my father was adopted in January or February 1967, he was born in Stepney on January 5th 1967. He was adopted by a couple with the surname Dyke. Both of my adopted fathers parents are catholic so my family and I have taken the assumption it was a catholic unwed teenage mother as my dads adopted mother has hinted his birth mother was 15 or 16. I know his adoption was a closed adoption.
I want to find my birth grandmother as I am expecting my first child and I want him to know her. I know she really loved my dad and I know she didn’t want to give him up, I know she begged my dads adopted mother for pictures of him and wrote letters constantly and my dads adopted mother did write back and send pictures a few times. I have recently been gifted a beautiful pair of vintage baby boots (quilted white satin booties with real white rabbit fur trim hand sewn on) they are still in their original wax bag and I was given them by my dads adopted mother, she has told me that when she adopted my dad they were given with him from the birth mother. They have been gifted to me for my son. This gift has given me the final push to find my paternal grandmother and I want her to meet her great grandson so any help would be appreciated:)
