556. CarrieDan : I am looking for my brother Percy Dan or Topalinski born in Kamloops in 1968 or 1969 at Kamloops Royal Inland Hospital, of native ancestry. Your name could have been changed by your adoptive family. You have a family and you are the only one I have not found.
558. MHMulligan : I was born Michael Rae Higginson & given up for adoption at birth August 04‚ 1958 & adopted in Oct 1960. My hope is to verify my most recent lineage & make contact with living relatives if possible.
The following information is from my adoption records and info exchanged via the BC Adoption Reunion Registry after being matched with my birth mother Anita Geraldine Higginson in 1993. She was 20‚ unmarried & living in a boarding home in Burnaby‚ BC at the time of my birth at St Paul’s Hospital‚ Vancouver‚ BC. She is of Irish & English decent‚ born in Alert Bay‚ BC in 1938‚ 5’ 3"‚ slim‚ with attractive‚ naturally curly strawberry blond hair‚ brown eyes‚ fairly small features & freckly skin. She was a talented dancer & trained in ballet from childhood & was close to her mom until she was 16 when she left home because of an abusive alcoholic partner of her mother. She later suffered a fall requiring back surgery ending any chance of a dancing career.
Her father (identify unknown) was a logging foreman‚ of medium height‚ well built with dark curly hair & left her mother & her when she was 2 years old. Her mother (identity unknown) was short‚ slim build with dark brown hair & eyes without much education & worked in a factory.
My birth father (identity unknown) was 31‚ of Ukrainian decent & died from complications of an asthma attack resulting in heart failure before I was born & the planned wedding with Anita. He was 6’ with a good build & broad shoulders‚ had very dark brown hair‚ dark brown eyes & fair complexion. As a young teenager during either conflicts between Russia & the Ukraine or WWII he suffered separation from his parents‚ began active fighting & was imprisoned where he developed severe asthma & was affected physically & emotionally from the experience. He received little education but did attend technical school & trained as a mechanic‚ spoke 8 different languages & was described as articulate & very intelligent.
After an exchange of some information via the Adoption Reunion Agency in 1993‚ Anita‚ who lived locally - possibly Vancouver‚ declined to meet citing health reasons‚ but did offer that she had been married (it was unclear if 1 or 2x) & had a daughter who had children that also lived locally. No further contact occurred.
I have near equal % DNA commonality (1st‚ 2nd & 3rd cousin) via 23andMe & Ancestry with multiple Tanner (maternal side) & Higginson (paternal side) family members & have government records & anecdotal information that suggests who my maternal grandparents might be‚ but am unable to verify without further info. As for Anita & any subsequent offspring I only have her maiden name.
