According to family history‚ my grandfather was born in Hull‚ Canada. I'm unsure if it was Quebec or Ontario. His celebrated date of birth was April 7‚ 1911‚ and he was adopted into New York (USA) at an early age‚ though I don't know what age it was. I've been told his original surname was McHugh‚ but I have no proof of this. His name in the United States was Leslie James Cleland‚ but I have not been able to locate a birth certificate to prove either his name or date of birth. He passed away May 3‚ 1993.
I am desperately trying to find records of his adoption. Any help anyone could give is very much appreciated. Thank you.

I have brothers and sisters (not all from the same father) whose names may be: Anabenilda‚ José Antonio‚ France Jennilel (spelling uncertain)‚ and José Renaldo. They were approximately 14‚ 10‚ 4‚ and 2 years old at the time of my birth‚ but we do not know which age corresponds to which name.
