The adoption was through the Title XX Program at the Department of Social Services. in Florence SC where I lived.
558. Bluedevilyn : Adoptive family last name Pedigo or Bonzo. 3 weeks old. Adoption never kept a secret from me, have known since I can remember being able to know about it. Adoptive family knew nothing about birth parents other than they believed birth mother was young, 16/17 years and gave me up possibly in a “home for young/unwed mother’s.” An elected official in South Carolina helped out as a reference for my adoptive mom can’t remember name, not sure role, possibly a state representative at the time, first name might be Jim, not sure. I really have no info from which to start, I do believe adoptive family shared any info, truthfully as known to them and they didn’t know anything other than what I already stated. Grasping at straws here, in all honesty. Have done AncestryDNA.
560. Skdom3878 : Want to find my son to let him know that I did not throw him away. I was only 15 and not capable of providing for him. Not a day goes by that I don’t think about him and hope he’s well and happy. He was born November 19‚ 1971 in Charleston‚ SC. His birth name was Daniel Travis Kammerer. I don’t know the name of the hospital‚ but I was in the Florence Crittendon Home prior to his birth. I recently was told that since I was not a resident of South Carolina‚ he may have been sent to North Carolina for adoption.
562. 1959jdabney : My daughters name at the time of birth was Melissa Leigh Bond or Fendley. She was born in Greenville, South Carolina. My name is Joan Bond Dabney at the time Joan Bond Fendley. 570. EmilyLemke18 : Hey, Before my mom was born her mother had another child a few years before her. My mother’s family would not tell her anything about it. Only they she was probably born between 1968-70 in South Carolina. Probably Charleston. I would really like to finally see my mom know the truth but not really sure where to start. I’m really hoping this can point me in the right direction. Thank you. The birth mother could have gone by 3 different last names at the time. Betty Marie Ward ( Her birth name) or Betty Marie Lesh. When she got married it switched to Betty Marie Miller but I think that wasn’t til later, 80s I believe.
I was matched with my birth mother just minutes after setting up my profile. It turns out that she had been searching for me for years. It's been a joy to connect with her and the rest of my biological family.
