Not sure she was adopted as she died in 2006 but did mention a very difficult childhood and in care was mentioned.
1161. Mjohnstone : My name is Marcella. My half-brother was born Paul Petty on December 1st 1965. I have obtained a copy of his birth certificate but I don’t know his adopted name. He was born at Redlands Hospital in Glasgow. His mother was my mother‚ Agnes Petty‚ who was born in 1946. She was single at the time‚ working as a seamstress. It is my understanding he and I have different biological fathers and no father is named on his birth certificate. I was born in 1967 and didn’t know of his existence until recently when my aunt told me in her final days. Apparently he reached out to my mother at some point when he was an adult but she did not choose to meet him. I would like to know him.

1170. Winter1975 : My Mum was born Mary Mcrae Sheppard in Glasgow on 2nd January 1951 to John Sheppard and Mary Sheppard née Clark. She was one of 9 children and the 2nd eldest. She was fostered at about 18 months by her Paternal Great Aunt‚ Ann MacRae Heggie née Sheppard and her Husband William Heggie. Her Paternal Great Grandmother‚ Ann McCrae Sheppard née Sloan also lived with them and helped bring my Mum up. My Mum was legally adopted in about 1958. She always knew she was adopted but didn’t know until 2018 that she was a blood relation of her Adoptive Mum and had no idea she had Biological Siblings. She also had not told my Brother or I that she was adopted until this time so it was quite a shock! I have been trying to find more information‚ with her permission‚ about her Birth Parents and Siblings ever since.
