601. Amanda279 : I am looking for my Fathers birth family. Sadly my father passed away in the yearly 1990s when I was a child. He was adopted and grew up in Glasgow. He was called Andrew White (Andy) but his name would have been changed to that when he was adopted. He was born 02 November 1948 in Glasgow‚ Scotland. The lady that adopted him was called Agnus White her maiden name was Drake. I know nothing of my father life before he was adopted. I have always wondered if he had any siblings? I would like to try and find out more about his birth parents and the possibility that they’re maybe family out there? I don’t really know where to start? I’ve uploaded one of the earliest photos we have of my Dad. I am also on GEDmatch and ancestry so DNA can confirm any biological family. From my results I think my father was adopted within his biological family but with older relatives due to my DNA matches having the same family names in their trees. My GEDmatch is LU1920323
I now know my Dad was born William Smith Murray‚ his birth Mother was Margaret Kerlin and his father William Smith Murray. Margaret married in Glasgow 1953 to a Richard Budzuarik and moved to Manchester‚ she died in 1978. His father married a Ruth Nancy MacDonald in Glasgow in 1950‚ the same year my Dad was given up for adoption. His birth father went onto have a second son born to his wife in 1953 who he named after himself and my Dad‚ his first and second son were both called William Smith Murray.

I was matched with my birth mother just minutes after setting up my profile. It turns out that she had been searching for me for years. It's been a joy to connect with her and the rest of my biological family.
