A Few of Our Members Currently Searching Within Scotland Who Chose To Be Featured
826. AmberStirling : Mothers name Elenor Stirling (possibly Elenor Dick) fathers last name Stewart. We know she came looking for her brith parents shortly after Elenor passed away and she was sent away by her father. Anstruther Fife. DOB could be wrong.
827. MartinAB : I would love to find my birth mother.
I was born 21st April 1966 with the name Douglas Marr Grant. My birth mother’s name at the time was Mary Grant.
828. Tez13 : My sibling was born in Edinburgh hospital and birth certificate issued under name of COLIN STAFFORD. I understand he was adopted by an older couple in their 40’s who also had adopted another boy‚ either before of after Colin (name likely changed). Adoptive father possibly a steel or dock worker in Leith
830. StevenMartin : My mother was Jean or Jeanie Martin (Murray or McLean). She lived in Maryhill Glasgow when I was born in 1970. I was told I had two sisters that were later adopted and may be in Australia but last heard of in the North of England.
Jeanie had brothers, Bill, John and Jimmy. She had a partner called Malcolm.
I was born Steven Campbell Martin on 31st August 1970 and only know that my two sisters were older possibly up to 10 years older or so.
831. Bernici : Cameron falkirkshire scotland.
Attended st. Mary RC primary Bannockburn stirling and then st.modans high school st.Ninians stirling
Adoptive parents were James and philomeana griffin from Cambusbarron stirling
833. Mozie3 : My cousin’s daughter recently took a DNA test which threw up a surprise relative. My Grandfather had a lady friend (at the same time as he was married to my Grandmother) and, although we all knew her, this new relative appears to have been their secret love child.
We don’t know any details about this person except that he calls himself Thomas Ryan. It isn’t known if Ryan is his middle name or his adopted surname.
His mother was Mary Hilary Bartle born in Birmingham on 26.09.1915 and she died in Kings Norton, Birmingham 06.05.1995. Date of probate 25.05.1995
Her address was 19 Coleman Court, Grovewood Drive, Kings Norton, Birmingham.
My Grandfather’s name was James Henry Corbett of Hollywood Farm, Hollywood Lane, Hollywood, Birmingham.
In the 1939 census, Hilary was listed as being at Hollywood Farm and her position in the household was listed as Secretarial.
We have searched for our previously unknown cousin on ancestry sites and the only two possible births listed, that would fit the timescale, are Harold Bartle, b, April-June in 1939 and John P Bartle born in Bradford-on-Avon Jan-March in 1944.
My cousin’s daughter contacted him, through ’Ancestry’ prior to July 2020 all she had in return was his fledgling family tree that shows the name of his mother and his father as ’not known’ Corbett and his maternal grandparents as ’Not Known’ Bartle and Mary Bartle.
We would love to meet him and welcome him into his blood family but are getting nowhere with our search for him.
We can only guess at the year of his birth and have no idea of the place or date of his birth or adoption.
834. Daveward100 : My unmarried Mum gave up her son for adoption in Greenock (in 1962). He was born in Hampstead London and they stayed at a Mother and Baby refuge in Hampstead before she returned to her family in Greenock. Her son was handed over to the adopted family aged 3 months.
I have spoken to my Mum about this and she would very much like to know if you are okay. I also would be interested in meeting you‚ if you feel comfortable with that.
835. MandyCookxo : Looking for a woman named Donna Cook/Gray at birth.
Birth Mothers name was Annie Cook and Birth Fathers name was Gordon Gray/Grey. Her biological sister is called Nicola Cook
Donna would be in her early-mid fourties today. May not have the same name.
I am Donnas cousin. Her mother has since passed and her sister who could legally ask for Donnas information is not in contact with the family.
837. PhillipaTerry : Looking for my half brother and sister‚ twins. Both red haired‚ born in about 1967 in Cambleton‚ argyll county‚ Scotland. The adoption was arranged by the church. Their birth mother is (was?) Elsie Sinclair‚ birth father Arthur Raymond Terry‚ now living in Australia. He is 80 years old and he’s my father too. The twins should be in their late 50’s by now.
Thank you!
