903. AnnScotland : My name is Janne Berlie and I am a 42 y.o. woman, half Scottish, half Norwegian, living in Oslo, and I am desperately hoping to find my half-brother. He is my Scottish father’s son, who was born in Scotland, in Ayrshire (Prestwick town, I think) and was adopted, possibly to a family in the States, when my father was 18 or 19 years old (1967/1968), so he would be 52 or 53 years old today. My father’s name is Roy Berlie. As far as I am aware, the adoption was a decision which was made by the birthmother’s parents, without my father or the birth mother’s say, due to their daughter’s young age (I think she was only 17). All I know about her is that she was my father’s first love (they were a couple), her first name is Dorothy (called ’Dot’) and that she used to be a dancer when she was young. My father (who is now 71) has talked about their son to me, over the years, and I know that losing him has always been a great sorrow for him. I’ve always wished to some day meet and get to know my half-brother and so has my sister, Catherine (35 y.o.), and also of course for my dad to get the chance to meet/find him. Thank you for any help.

913. Charlenejacobs123 : My father was adopted in the 60s by Isobel and John Coburn who resided in Blackwater town in Northern Ireland. My father was born in Scotland but was given up for adoption. It is to my knowledge that the Coburn family learnt of my father Francis Coburn as my Aunty Elizabeth Coburn worked in the children’s home where he was sent to. My father is known to most by Francis Patrick Coburn but I am also to believe he has been known by John Francis and Francis Patrick John Coburn over the years.
