A Few of Our Members Currently Searching Within Scotland Who Chose To Be Featured
167. AnnaStewart79 : Hello, we are searching the birth parents of my deceased mum. we know her mother was originally from Ireland, we think somewhere near Donegal. My mum was adopted into a Scottish family, name McCready, in the town of Kilmarnock.
168. Angela89 : I have met my birth mother due to personal research. However she sadly passed away before I could get any information on my birth father. I know it was someone she worked with in Glasgow at the Spaghetti factory. I do not have a name to go on or anything so this is a long shot.
171. Alba62 : Hi, I was born in Inverness, Scotland,UK. To the best of my knowledge it was maybe 3months after being born, the lady that was overseeing the adoption was called Ms Beague I think, thank you, Brian
175. Arbsurgeon : I believe I was born in the Dumbartonshire area or in Glasgow, on May the 22nd 1977
On several occasions people have double took me around the Dumbartonshire area as if they have recogised me then realised I am not who they think I am. I wish I persued this further now
176. Violet12 : Searching for Margaret Ferrie McCardle born in 1932 or 33 or 34 in Glasgow Scotland.
Parents - Margaret McCardle ( nee Ferrie ) and John McCardle.
Margaret mother also Margaret, passed away when she was young.
Margaret had 3 Sisters I think.
Margaret had a baby in 1950.
She gave the baby up for adoption.
The baby was my Father.
I know Margaret had an awful life before she had my Father and after she gave him up for adoption.
My father was adopted by lovely people and they were fantastic parents.
I’ve searched the records at the Scotland’s People Centre in Edinburgh, Scotland and the last known official records show she was married to a Mr William Topp, few years after my Father was adopted.
Mr William Topp passed few years after marrying Margaret.
He died of coal gas poisoning.
He had a sister Nancy.
That’s all I know.
There’s no other records of Margaret Ferrie McCardle / Topp after William Topps Death.
I’ve searched for Margaret for few years now.
Not found anything more than information I have.
I’d like to know my natural grandmother or any relatives of hers.
As I know what a hard life she had from what the records state.
I’d like her to know that her brave unselfish decision gave my Father a home and a family.
She shouldn’t have had to make such a horrible decision, but that was society back then and there was no support for single mothers.
I’d like to know if I look like her, as I look like my dad.
My father is very ill in hospital with a disease, it’s Nuro Degenerative. It a called Huntingtons Disease.
It’s genetic.
I’ve also got it.
My father didn’t know about it as he had no natural biological family health history knowledge.
So when he was tested, I was tested afterwards.
It’s a disease with no cure.
I’d like to find out if the disease came from Margaret McCardle / Topp family side, as no record of my father’s natural Father in records and Margaret didn’t mention him in any adoption official paperwork.
So if Margaret Ferrie McCardle / Topp is out there or any relatives, could you please get in touch as if like to know the rest of her journey through life.
And know her story in full.
She had a hard life from what the records state.
And from what I can see in the records myself.
Her decision to give my Father up for adoption wasn’t an easy one. She kept him for 6 months.
So she tried to keep him and raise him.
Her family had put her out the family home in North Woodside Road in Glasgow, Scotland.
She and her baby ( my dad ) were taken in by a friend.
The friend lived in the Saracen or Possil area of Glasgow, Scotland.
The friend was referred to in the social work records for my father’s adoption.
The friends name was Bette.
I’m stuck trying to find out any other information on Margaret Ferrie McCardle /Topp.
If anyone knows anything or a relative regarding Margaret, please get in touch.
Many thanks.
178. JadeMarieDevlin : My daughter is called jaydean her last name was devlin but been changed too something beginning with c she was born on the 12th of December 2007 she will be 10 this year
180. Mari22 : I was born in St France’ Private Maternity Home in 1971.
I’m searching for my brother - his name is David or Jason. We could be twins as an Aunt went to visit our mother after she’d given birth and she says she was introduced to a baby boy.
Or David could be 7 years younger than me, so that would make him around 39 years old
Lydia Patricia Wilson, our mother named me Allison Wilson.
I have no other information regarding David/Jason.
I would very much like to meet him!
I was matched with my birth mother just minutes after setting up my profile. It turns out that she had been searching for me for years. It's been a joy to connect with her and the rest of my biological family.
