My mother was 16 when she gave birth, at Greater Southeast Community Hospital in Southeast Washington DC, to a biracial daughter she named Raven. The date of birth was August 26, 1985, and the adoption agency used was Lutheran Social Services. She was told the adoptive family already had another child they had also adopted.
