A Few of Our Members Currently Searching Within District of Columbia Who Chose To Be Featured
601. Chibicai : I am adopted and hoping to find my birth relatives.
I was born in Cheverly‚ MD (suburb outside Washington‚ D.c.) and was adopted in March 1974 through Pierce Warwick Adoption Agency. I know that I have two older siblings.
My birth mother had her father pass away prior to 1974‚ but her mother was living with her brother. My birth mother has one brother and three sisters. All three sisters were married and had children.
My birth father trained as an auto mechanic in Vietnam (as a civilian) and then worked in Korea for 12 years as a skilled mechanic prior to coming to the US. His father and mother stayed in Korea and were well off. However‚ the father did not take any responsibility for children who left Korea. My birth father has 2 sisters and 6 brothers.
I know that the family was under great stress with the marriage on the verge of divorce. They felt it would be best to put their 3rd child (me) up for adoption.
My birth family tree is MASSIVE. My adoption was closed and I have to petition the court to break my seal (which has previously been denied). I would love to just meet everyone. My adoptive family is wonderful and I am not looking to replace them nor do I have an idealized vision of a fairy tale reunion. I just would like to know.
602. MzTalia87 : My name is Talia. I am looking for 2 family members name Trenae(Tranae) & her brother Herman! We were separated when my grandmother died in 1995. I have been looking for years. I am hoping to find them.

609. BelindaSRD : My name is Belinda and I was born in DC on June 24, 1965. I understand my birth mother’s name was Barbara Jones but I have never met her.

613. Slewkuc : Searching for birth mother. Born 05/15/1965 in Washington DC. Adoption handled privately by attorney in Virginia. Told that birth mother was of English descent.
614. Nelly21 : Looking for a twin sister actually born on August 21 1992, but she may have been told her birthday is September 8 1992. Her birth certificate was likely changed to the September date, in an attempt to keep the twins a secret
615. LCMango : I am searching for an adopted child whom I named Michelle Nicole Mangogna at birth, but whose parents renamed Beth Ann. I am not sure of the spelling of her name, or whether or not this is her whole name or a nickname for a longer first name. I do not know her last name at all. She was born July 30, 1987, in St. Louis, MO, at St. Mary’s hospital. She was adopted through Catholic Charities in the Washington, D.C. area. My daughter was 5 days old when I last saw her, leaving in the arms of a social worker who took her to a foster home until she was adopted by her family when she was 30 days old.
She has an adopted brother, 5 years older than her, he had red hair. Her mother was described as petite with dark hair, a drama teacher. Her father was described as tall and blond, worked in the field of physics. They couldn’t tell me more about his job because it was so specific they felt it would give away their identity. It was a closed adoption. Her adoption was challenged by her birth father the case almost went to the Supreme Court. He almost regained custody when she was 5 years old, which must have been traumatic for her.
She is now 20 years old. I have missed her every day since she left us. I hope every time I think of her that I made the right decision, and that she is happy, safe, and thriving. I also sincerely hope that she will consider meeting or calling, so I can see her or hear her voice, to know that she is okay. Her two brothers, Ryan and Joe, would very much love to meet her, too.
If you read this, please know I love you more than I can describe. When the social worker left with you, a piece of me the size and shape of you went, too. I would love to see you again. Please write if you get this message.
Hugs and all the best,
Lisa, your birth mom.
