1039. LPCole : I’m very interested in finding my mother’s birth mother/father. Her adopted parents were Clarence H. and Verna L. (Conrad) Martin. She was born in 1941 in Omaha‚ Nebraska and named Mary Alice Martin. I believe she was around 3 mos. old at the time of adoption. All baby pictures I have start right about that age. She is deceased since 1972‚ her father in 1975 and mother in 1963. She was born in Lincoln‚ Nebraska at Lincoln General Hospital and was taken home with her adoptive parents 3 days after her birth. The adoption was closed but she has always been curious about her birth parents.

Her family was in contact with my mom sending letters back and forth and one day it all stopped when she at the time would have been in middle school I assume. Adoptive parents names possibly Maria and Gary something. Letters came from Lincoln‚ Nebraska and somewhere in New York‚ before the letters just stopped. Her biological father’s name is Keith Buck. My mother’s name (her biological mother) is Tamara (Tammy) Davis. She was 17-18 at the time that my sister was put up for adoption. Torri was supposed to find out at 18 years old that she was adopted‚ not sure if she ever found out. Because the letters just stopped coming. I can’t find her on any socials. Hopefully my profile being on here reaches someone who knows of her or maybe herself. September/August 1995 she was born and adoption took place very shortly after my mother gave birth to her within a week it sounds. The picture on my profile is a picture of her from 2006/2007 school year.

Two years after my mother’s - Mary Margaret Ervine- Selby-Svoboda birth in 1928‚ I found Lillian Jane Ervine (my grandmother) in an April 2‚ 1930 Census living at the Nebraska Industrial Home for unwed mothers in Milford‚ Nebraska.
This shows her with a 5-month baby boy named Lyle E. Ervine. Before passing‚ my mother believed she had a brother born in 1929 that was fathered by the same man as her biological father. This verifies that. The record shows his Father’s Birthplace as Nebraska. Wish I knew where in Nebraska or his name 😉 Later that year on December 8‚ 1930 she married Harley F. Selby. in Mitchell‚ Nebraska.
Lyle E. Ervine was most likely adopted out since my grandmother Lillian Jane Ervine Selby never shared with family that she ever had a son fathered by the same man as my mother. I’m just thankful that my mother was not adopted out of wedlock like her brother. This also tells me that Grandmother Lillian knew‚ loved‚ trusted and spent time over a number of years with this man since she had two children with him.
I believe an adoption record must exist for Lyle E. Ervine through the Milford Industrial Home (Maternity Home) in Milford‚ Nebraska and that it might possibly have his father’s name on it. I’m not sure how to go about finding that adoption record or if it would have my Mother’s and her brother Lyle’s birth father’s name attached. Grandmother Lillian sure kept it a secret from us for many years and carried the secret with her till her death in 2002.
If you have any suggestions how I might track that down‚ please let me know. Even if I found Lyle E. Ervine’s adoptive name and family‚ they might have more information about my biological grandfather on my mom’s side of the family..
