In Victoria, adult adoptees (18 and over) are able to obtain access to identifying information
including their original birth certificate, court and agency records. Those wishing to obtain access
to information must also participate in a mandatory interview, which can take place in person or
over the phone in the case that the adoptee lives overseas. As of July 1, 2013, birth parents are
also able to obtain identifying information regarding the adopted child.

A family tree on ancestry implies that his mother was Ruby Gardner who lived in St Kilda around the late 1940's.
My father lived in Melbourne then.
I would lie to contact Ian and maybe help solve a mystery for him and me.

My grandmother has passed away years ago after her funeral a man claiming to be her brother came by the house not sure if he was birth or adoptive brother. But I would really like to find her birth family to know who they were and finally put this mystery to bed.
