Adopted.com is proud to offer a country-wide Adoption Reunion Registry for Australia where you
can meet by mutual consent whether you've accessed your adoption records or not. From Perth
to Brisbane and everywhere in between, if both parties want to meet then you can find each
other on Adopted.com!
In Victoria, adult adoptees (18 and over) are able to obtain access to identifying information
including their original birth certificate, court and agency records. Those wishing to obtain access
to information must also participate in a mandatory interview, which can take place in person or
over the phone in the case that the adoptee lives overseas. As of July 1, 2013, birth parents are
also able to obtain identifying information regarding the adopted child.
A Few of Our Members Currently Searching Within Victoria Who Chose To Be Featured
601. FeeBee03 : I’m looking for my birth parents and/or wider biological family I might have. I was born at the Queen Victoria hospital in Melbourne to Karen Dyer. She lived in Yallourn North at the time of my birth with her parents and sister.
I have no identifying information about my biological father but he was also living in Yallourn North with his parents and siblings. (Possibly 2 or 3 brothers and 1 sister.) I believe my biological mother was born in 1963 or 1964 and my biological father was 1 - 2 years older than here.
602. Littlecharliebear : Looking for the birth family of Daniel Francis Shanahan born 30/12/1963 adopted by Gwen Shanahan and Timothy Shanahan who also adopted another son Michael born 1965
I am unsure of any details of the adoption The Shanahan where from Stawell Victoria but could of lived in south Australia prior to Stawell.
603. Safee1951 : My son was adopted around 1969- 70 from the Royal women’s hospital in Melbourne Victoria . Me and your mother have never forgotten you unfortunately you mother could never keep you as she was only a young girl who came from a strict European family and the birth was kept a secret from her family .
604. 258149 : I am searching for my birth mother. I was born in Melbourne Australia on 8th January 1963. I believe my mother was approx 18 years of age and working as a Nurse. I believe her name given for legal documents was Patrica-ann Powley. I am told she moved to Melbourne from the country to have me and was never able to be contacted after that. I am now 48 years old with 4 children. i run my own Business and would very much like to fill in the blanks.
606. Lizzie141 : My father Ian sired a son when he was 18‚ in approximately 1953/4 - actual birthdate unknown. The mother’s name was‚ we believe‚ Maureen Bird. This happened while both were living in Stanhope Hostel for children of deceased servicemen‚ Melbourne‚ Victoria‚ Australia.
607. 1907BridgfordSmith : The adoption took place in 1907‚ and the lady’s son is interested in finding out about her parentage‚ as she died without knowing anything about her birth parents and he is now in a nursing home. I was told her birth mother lived or worked in Newmarket‚ Victoria‚ and that the name Bridgford was relevant‚ although she never legally had Bridgford in her legal name. Ashe was adopted by my great grandparents Peter and Margaret Smith. Some years ago I was told that all adoptions about that time were done through the local police station but the records were in disarray so I had no luck in finding them.
608. SearchingSandra76 : Looking for my birth mother and possibly father (Maltese) and siblings (half siblings)
Sandra Colleen Buckingham and
Colin maybe her son
I have other information also but not accessible just yet
609. KylieL74 : I am looking for any relatives of Janeitta Anne Marie Loorham. She was born in Ballarat in 1954 and when she had me at 20 she lived in Malvern‚ Melbourne. I’d love to hear from anyone who might know her. There’s no pressure‚ I’d just like to know where I came from. It wasn’t a proper adoption as such‚ just a Deed of Guardianship signed by a solicitor named N G Webb‚ and because of this I don’t seem to be entitled to the same rights as someone who has an adoption certificate. I was brought to England as a baby and have absolutely no idea how to find anything out. So if anyone knows anything‚ or even if you have any advice to help me in my search‚ it would be appreciated so much.
610. K3rr78 : I was told by my grandfather that my grandmother had a child prior to their marriage. He passed away before getting further information. I am wanting to know if my mother has a sibling (that she doesn’t know about) and if it is the case‚ link them together‚ because they would both be in their 80s.
612. SMO1961 : I do not know my father‚ was to be adopted around 1 year of age but it did not proceed. I have three half siblings that I have found on my mothers side.
I don’t know my father but my birth mother got married and her husband adopted me at when I was 19 years old.
I am looking not only for my father but any half siblings on his side.
613. Taylor-jaydehosier : I’m looking for my beautiful twin brothers. Charlie-Jae and Codi. You have been in care since very young and I have been able to see you over rhe years except the last 6. I will find you boys I promise
614. Marilyncarey : Looking for my father’s sister‚ Jean SUTTON. Jean was born 20th April 1919 in the Royal Women’s Hospital Melbourne. Her mother was Louisa SUTTON who normally lived in Bealiba. There is a possibility that the father’s last name was BENNETT‚ but this has never been confirmed. Louisa subsequently married John ROBINSON and lived in the Burke’s Flat/Wehla/Logan area of central Victoria. She had two more children‚ Allan George ROBINSON and Gwen BELCHER nee ROBINSON who is unwell at present‚ but would to love to know what happened to her half sister. There was a chance Jean’s first name was changed to June‚ and that her last name became DAVIS or DAVIES. I have checked all available birth‚ death and marriage records for any possible name combination but have come up blank. I believe 1919 was too early for her to have been officially adopted and she is unlikely to still be around. Any help or suggestions would be gratefully received.
615. Simmons2025 : Looking for anyone who knew my mum.
She was born in April 1969 and adopted in Victoria.
Both her adopted parents have now passed away but did not provide any information regarding the birth parents.
I was matched with my birth mother just minutes after setting up my profile. It turns out that she had been searching for me for years. It's been a joy to connect with her and the rest of my biological family.
