Victoria Adoption Reunion Registry

Adopted.com is proud to offer a country-wide Adoption Reunion Registry for Australia where you can meet by mutual consent whether you've accessed your adoption records or not. From Perth to Brisbane and everywhere in between, if both parties want to meet then you can find each other on Adopted.com! In Victoria, adult adoptees (18 and over) are able to obtain access to identifying information including their original birth certificate, court and agency records. Those wishing to obtain access to information must also participate in a mandatory interview, which can take place in person or over the phone in the case that the adoptee lives overseas. As of July 1, 2013, birth parents are also able to obtain identifying information regarding the adopted child.

642. NickLeach : Born Nicholas Leach on 24 December 1972 at Box Hill Hospital‚ Victoria. Mother is Kathryn Denise Leach‚ my sister. Pressured by our step-father to put Nicholas up for adoption‚ as Kathryn was unmarried. Consent for adoption signed 17 January 1973. I was living in the UK at the time‚ and knew nothing at all of Kathryn's pregnancy. I didn't learn of this until many years later. I contacted official adoption channels in 2011 and was able to have them pass on a letter from me to Kathryn's now adopted son. They advised me that he was now called Paul and that his adopted parents lived in Regional Victoria. They also advised me that Paul did not wish to connect with our family‚ and so the door was shut to us. Kathryn was unable to have any more children due to complication after Nicholas/ Paul's birth. I have since misplaced all correspondence‚ possibly because of my change of computers and email address history. We would all dearly love to try again to establish contact‚ particularly his cousins.
