331. JuliaSundeBoos : Before I was born my mom had met a man whom she fell in love with. She ended up pregnant and when she told this man that she was pregnant he told her to bleepity bleepity off and told her he was married. She had no idea and was devastated. This was during a time that people disapprove of unwed mothers so her parents made her to go into a home for unwed mothers and made her give him up for adoption. She’s always say that was one of the hardest days in her life. She said she got put on a list so if he wanted to find her he could. One special thing about my unknown brother and I is that we share the same birthday, just different years. He’s 1969 or 1970 (I can’t remember which) and I was born January 29th, 1974. He also has a younger half sister who will be 37. We all have different dads but that’s ok. We are very close and love our family. I have a grown daughter and son, and my sister has to little girls 5&3 and has another baby on the way. Ever since I found out I had a big brother that’s all I could think about. I would love nothing more than to meet him and welcome him into our sometimes crazy but very loving and fun family!
333. Irish1984 : My grandfather Joseph A McFarland was adopted as a child. Story has it his biological mother was Mary Kelly from South Dakota. Joseph was adopted by Frank Herbert McFarland and his wife Mary Lettia Clark. They are both from Sioux City Iowa. Date of birth for Joseph is Feb. 1 1905. Death May24 1952 in Minneapolis Mn
334. JPOLSON2284 : My grandmother Joan Marie Jonas‚ was born on Sept. 24th 1930. We think she came from an orphanage possibly in Aberdeen‚ South Dakota. She was adopted by Joseph Jonas and Marie Jonas (Perna). Through ancestry.com and dna blood test we strongly believe she has a sister by the name Elizabeth Hoffman (maiden Berra) (DOB Oct 1934). Elizabeth Berras biological mother was Leona Berra (born in Ellendale North Dakota). We believe Joan was given up for adoption and Elizabeth was kept. Any help about any records about my grandmother would be hugely appreciated.
335. Tabitha0911 : My dad Monroe was stationed in San Diego California with the US Marines in either 1973-1975 (?). He had claimed that he met a woman while in the marines‚ who became pregnant with his child. The only name that was ever mentioned was Jacqueline “Jackie”. My grandmother Ola had a picture of this little girl it was black and white‚ and on the bottom it said Jacqueline “Jackie” Morris. I cannot remember for sure but she was around the age of 2 or 3 with dark hair‚ & I believe had a dress on with a crochet shawl on‚ if I remember correctly. My dad was from southern Illinois at the time of his entry‚ although born in Caruthersville‚ MO. He enlisted into the Marine Corps at 17-18yrs of age. My dad has passed and I have no further information. I’ve included his Marine photo and hope that this may trigger a response.
337. JosephPrimm : Trying to understand if an adoption took place
BIRTH: 11/08/1934 - Robert Gene Christenson (Mary May Christenson, mother) and no father listed in Sioux City, IA or Union County, S. Dakota. We can not locate the certificate of birth and we assume it was filed in South Dakota as we know the document number is 26596 found in the Union County, S. Dak Courthouse records back in the 1980s.
DELAYED IOWA BIRTH CERTIFICATE #12956: 11/08/1934, filed 11/20/1934 with full given name of Robert Eugene Hardy, parents Clarence and Florence Hardy.
IOWA JUVENILE COURT DECREE #5090: 06/24/1935, indicating Robert Eugene Allen shall be the child of petitioners, Clarence and Florence Hardy.
DNA matches have very high probability with my father (William Lawrence Primm, B: Oct 5, 1930 to Lawrence August Primm and Mabel Mae Christensen. Note the name differences for Mabel as she was still married to Lawrence when she gave birth to Robert in 1934. Old relatives now deceased confirmed parts of the story but there is a claim that he was adopted shortly after birth and given the last name Allen. That seems odd given the above info of the delayed birth certificate and subsequent court decree.
Bottom line: trying to find any adoption records that would tie Robert Gene Christenson / Robert Eugene Allen / Robert Eugene Hardy to the biological father (whom I suspect is actually Clarence Hardy).
My interest is my father (William Lawrence Primm) is a half brother to Robert Eugene Hardy and we are helping his family and our to reconcile these questions.
338. The_Darkness : Good day to you all
