A Few of Our Members Currently Searching Within South Dakota Who Chose To Be Featured
316. Sky2004 : I’m the mother to the adopted child’s half sister and I’m trying to help her locate her half brother. They obviously have the same father.
The adopted boy, Mason, was adopted shortly after his mother gave birth. She didn’t want a reminder of her affair with my husband (ex husband now). She told me she was giving Mason to her cousins whom lived outside of Illinois (where we all live) in a different state. I don’t remember the state she told me tho because that was 12-13 years ago.
I think my daughter deserves to know her one and only step sibling. And she wants to know him, too!
When college time comes along for both of them, I don’t want them to meet and fall in love and end up finding out too late that they are siblings. Mason’s mother, Mandy, shouldn’t want that either.
I think Mandy is afraid that if I find Mason, I will tell him about his real dad and what a narcissist he is and that Mandy doesn’t want her son to ever meet his birth father.
318. Carlasgenealogy : I am searching for my father in laws adoption papers. He was adopted by Franklin William Steer an Flora cora Steer. They lived In South Dakota. His name was changed to William Franklin Steer. We know he had one sibling, a brother. He passed away in1982 so this is for genealogy purposes only. He may have been adopted in South Dakota. He was born in Minneapolis Minnesota.
Thank you.
319. Christysbrother : My brother was put up for adoption 2 yrs after I was born. I just found out not very long ago and don’t know much. Just that he was adopted out of Brookings SD. And may have been born in Watertown SD in Aug of 1977.
320. Grandmabarbara : My wife’s grandmother was adopted. The family was told she was born about July 19, 1905 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The last name Odell has been mentioned although her adoptive parents were Named Eaton from Missouri. George Eaton - her adoption father was a preacher.
321. CharRH : Char was born Feb. 9, 1944 in South Dakota.
She was relinquished, possibly along with several of her siblings, to, I was told, an orphanage in Redfield, South Dakota. Only I find no record of such place. Were there babies and children who were not disabled left at the State School there?
The story is that Char’s parents fell on terrible economic times and relinquished her (with the next youngest siblings) to the place. My grandparents went to Redfield in search of a little boy to be a companion to my father but came home with baby Char instead.
Her adoptive parents were Carl Rudolph and Bessie Irene Hillgren.
If they brought her to Redfield, it would seem that she’s from the northeast/north Central South Dakota area. Mobridge springs to mind but I’m not sure about that. I also think if Huron, as the subject would come up when the whole family attended the state fair.
This is all I know. If someone’s parents or grandparents had a baby sister or several siblings relinquished in early to mid 1944, I’d love to talk to you.
322. MarkBairey1964 : I was born on the 7th of February 1964 at Sioux Valley Hospital in
Sioux Falls South Dakota. I was adopted when I was 6wks old. The info I have been given is mother was young and unwed. Father was of high intelligence and athletic. Im assuming that they were high school sweethearts. Not much more information was given but that the adoption was handled by LUTHERAN SOCIAL SERVICES
323. Angel69127 : I am searching for my grandma’s oldest sister. She was born in Oregon in 1919 but I don’t know if that is where the adoption took place. Her birth mom’s family originated from Virginia or West Virginia. Her birth mom died July 6, 1919. The name on the records I’ve found show her birth name as Marie Lois Hodges.
324. MaMaBairAsh : I am searching for my son Hunter. I believe he was adopted in 2018, but he was born November 2, 2016 at Sanford hospital in Sioux Falls. He weighed 7lbs 13oz was born at 8:32pm. He has blue eyes and brownish blonde hair. I believe the mother is Khristina and the father Is Adam. I don’t know much about the family, but I would love to meet them and be apart of my sons life.
326. Omarr489 : Searching for my Grandmother’s biological father. She was born put of an affair. Her mother never told her his name and her brother’s knew who he was but had been instructed to never speak of him to her.
327. Brontosaurus51 : This person, Elizabeth Jones Foster, is deceased, but I’ve always wanted to know who her actual parents were. She was adopted by my maternal Grandmother, Geraldine Josephine Jones, whose husband, my grandfather, was Don Hill Foster. She was adopted in Nebraska, I would imagine somewhere south of Dallas, South Dakota. She spent her childhood in Dallas, South Dakota, and then at some point they moved to Des Moines, Iowa.
328. Kleinsasser01 : Looking for my fathers birth family he was born rapid city south Dakota to patsy hammond. His birth name was Richard norman hammond it was then changed to James everett Kleinsasser. His adopted parents were from Brookings south Dakota James and Harriet Kleinsasser
329. SunnyApril : I am looking for my brother born on St Patrick’s Day in Hennepin County Minnesota. Most likely at Hennepin County General Hospital. Placing agency was Lutheran Children’s Friend Society (Lutheran Social Service). Most likely birthdate is 17 Mar 1965. Birth mother’s last name is Johnson. Unsure of bio dad’s name or what was put on the birth certificate. St Patrick’s day 1965 in Minneapolis was a huge blizzard.
I was matched with my birth mother just minutes after setting up my profile. It turns out that she had been searching for me for years. It's been a joy to connect with her and the rest of my biological family.
