683. Cornhuskers13 : My mother wasn’t allowed to keep her child who was Born in Calgary, Alberta at the Calgary General Hospital. I am her half sister. Dr. Melling could have been the Doctor. Probably the Ogden United Church. My mother’s surname at that time was “cordick”.

688. PaulaMarie123 : I am Power of Attorney for my aunt, and am searching on her behalf. As a 17 year old, she let Alexandria, Ontario, and travelled to Calgary. As she knew no one in that city or even province, I suspect she gave birth to a child out of wedlock. No one has ever discussed the subject, but I do suspect that was the case based on comments made now and again throughout my own life.
Sincerely,
Paula
690. Tokyojen : My grandmother was placed in a babies’ home in Calgary in February 1926. I believe her date of birth is Feb. 16th. Her mother was Nellie Taylor, 19 years old and unwed. The home was run by Alberta Kafoury but she passed away six months after my grandmother was born and placed there. I don’t know where she went after September 1926. The name she was given at birth was Eleanor Taylor. Her adopted name was Gloria Fraser but she used Mariella Fraser when she was in the CWAC in Vermillion, Edmonton during the years 1943-1946.
I was matched with my birth mother just minutes after setting up my profile. It turns out that she had been searching for me for years. It's been a joy to connect with her and the rest of my biological family.
