147. Sthomson58 : I’m searching for my half brother, born Aug. 27, 1954, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Named at birth Frederick Horst Streichl, current name unknown. I have a few facts from CAS Toronto - he was privately adopted in 1954/55 by an English couple living in Canada, planning to return to England, so the adoption would have been finalized by an overseas agency. Adoptive father & mother were born in England in 1920 & 1921 respectively. Married in 1947 & came to Canada 1948. Adoptive mother had done office & factory work prior to marriage. Adoptive father had worked in the clothing industry in Canada & returned to England to become a partner in a clothing manufacturing company. (unknown if the adoptive mother & child accompanied him then or later) The family as looking to purchase a home in England. This is all I know as fact. Been searching for 20+ years, was fed a load of lies & misinformation along the way. But one thing stands out - my mother told me that her father approached her sometime after the "adoption", saying that the adoptive father had returned to Canada to ask him to get her to sign something as he & the adoptive mother were divorcing & he wanted sole custody....fact or fiction, I don’t know. But it makes me wonder if he perhaps never left Canada & has been living here all this time....
