504. AdelineBrooks : He was born at the Moederbond Hospital, My mother was at the Armstrong Berning centre and she signed him off at the Pretoria Court
505. Bernadettetaylor : I am looking for my maternal grandmother Natalie Haskins.
17 year old Natalie Haskins gave birth to a baby girl in Queen Victoria Hospital (Johannesburg) on 19 September 1941.
The baby’s birth name was registered as Daphne Schultz. According to records found through the Johannesburg Child Welfare‚ the father’s name was merely listed as Schuktz (no first name). What we know is that Natalie was living in Judith Paarl‚ Johannesburg at the time of the birth.
Daphne was adopted by a man called Chris Beek. Daphne’s name was then legally changed to Priscilla Ann Beek.
Daphne - now know as Priscilla - was however raised by a Johanna Mary Naude. [A very interesting story surrounds this‚ as was revealed in a letter written in 1947 by the Welfare to Mr Beek].
Mr Beek did search for Priscilla and briefly meet her when she herself was 17‚ before returning to live in Holland.
Johanna Mary Naude (who I was raised to believe was my gran) never told Priscilla (my mom) anything about her adoption etc.
I am desperately seeking ANY knowledge about either Natalie Haskins‚ the mysterious Mr Schultz or Chris Beek. (Interestingly‚ Mr Beek was a married man when he adopted my mom‚ but there is no record of his wife ....nor why Johanna (known as Joey)‚ raised my mom from birth!
As too‚ given Natalie’s maiden surname being Haskins‚ the fact that she lived in Judith Paarl and my mom’s facial features etc .... I am very interested to know if we have a Jewish lineage.
Most grateful for all and any help.
507. Ferdi1961 : The adoption took place at the Princess Alice adoption home in Johannesburg the welfare lady who handelled the adoption was called Pam she is now on retirement.
Her birth name was Robyn Meintjes.
508. Douglasvanbreda : My Birth mother was from Portugal‚ her name then was M.M Perira.
My biological father’s name is Douglas Harrison.
I live in South Africa
So I have no idea if she is still alive or what her maiden name is.
509. Lizeswart22 : I know her name is sanet and she had two sons prior, juan and martello. I was born in theMoedersbond Maternity Hospital
Pretoria, Gauteng.
510. ColleenElizabeFouche : Jacques ..
a whole family of 3 generations ..
-granny (now 88yrs) never spoke about you .. now in Apr 2021 said she has 2 letters from your mama .. kept them.
you are in my thoughts quite often as your brother Francois successfully moves up the career ladder .. and I am so imagining your successful climb as well ..
Francois has a birthday the day after yours (born 1985) - yes, God is good, hey? And your other brother Charl, was born 16 March 1988 (he suffers from Down’s syndrome). Marisha (your sister) was born 20 Feb. 1990
.. and wait for this - Marisha’s son born 8March 2016! Yes, you are slapbang inbetween ..
I eventually did not marry your dad .. which I suppose you know by now. He apparently could not handle it /forgive me for having you go to another mommy and daddy. The laws were different then. But looking back, i think i would still do the same .. i believe with all my heart that you were an answer to your mommy and daddy’s prayers - my brother and his wife could never have children and my sister struggled to conceive, she has one son (and he was also out of wedlock - i went up against my mom like a tigress .. there was no ways .. turns out he would be her only child. I am always thankful that i do follow my gut as i believe it is God that churns that!!).
God has blessed me so much. I just needed to let you know this.
and ja, your sister aint married (I fought against the whole family when she fell pregnant .. both times) and is still staying in the house together with her two kiddies (Munay & Daniel), but she would love having another brother.
This house is loud and upside down, emotional and definitely never boring.
I am working at the moment [i am an audio / dictaphone typist and have a small company Type and Dicta 24 - type disciplinary hearings] .. deadline in the morning .. but needed to quickly pin a message ...
