He was adopted via adoption matters, Chester. His adoptive parents are possibly called Nick and Diane Bowden - or at least this is what we were told. This was a forced adoption but it was set out that Jack knew where he came from and contact was to be maintained via letters and updates. This contact ended a few years after the adoption and we have not heard anything since.

Samcymru : My grandfather was born in 20a Cowbridge Road, Cardiff (which on research was a workhouse during that time) in November 1914 to Elizabeth Lilian Bowering who resided at 30a Cowbridge Road, Cardiff and was a domestic servant for Charles of Cardiff. Later he was adopted (although we are unsure if it was official or unofficial and when it occurred) by Henry and Martha Cook who resided in the Ammanford, Carmathenshire area.
We have found his baptism records stating he was baptised on 11th June 1915 in the parish of S Mary the Virgin, Cardiff.
