His fathers name was noted illegitimate on the registration of birth I received in Dec 2017. However two weeks later I received his birth fathers name, as he had passed on... sadly only 7 months prior at the age of 101.
I have read his obituary and know his adult children’s names. I assume they are in their mid 70s. A grand daughter was also listed, and two great grand daughters.

My father passed away in 2014. My mother has also passed, in 1992, as well as my brother in 1993. We were always of the assumption my father was part indigenous. His adoptive mother was a school teacher, and also had siblings who were adopted, and indigenous. Their names were Nina Stonechild and Margarite Evans. My father’s adoptive mother had ties to the File Hills reservation and residential school. Her step mother had been the head master (?) until she married in 1907. Her name was Kate Gillespie.
She married WR Motherwell (my great grandfather). He was a farmer in Abernathy Saskatchewan, and was eventually elected to the House of Commons and appointed minister of agriculture under the Mackenzie King Government.
My grandmother adopted my father at the age of 45, her husband was 59. There is a reason she chose to adopt him at this stage in her life, but no one knows, will disclose, or is deceased.
