A Few of Our Members Currently Searching Within Rhode Island Who Chose To Be Featured
391. RavenFreebird : I remember the mother a few homes maybe a small house fire? Pear tree behind a green house about 4 other siblings and maybe one on the way at my at visit with her. Mainly sisters the mother and a grand parents house. Believe was forcfuly removed and then kept from the mother by the false father then moved around and was adopted threw the system ? Not totaly sure hazy memories.
392. Angelaxr7 : My brother was born on 7/2/1976 and was taken from my mom on 7/3/1976 as part of a black-market adoption ring common during that era in San Francisco‚ CA. The baby was taken from my 14 year old mom as she was a runaway at the time. She was released from the University of California San Francisco Hospital (San Francisco County). My mom was initially allowed to see the baby (left unattended in a portable crib by her hospital bed). The next morning‚ a hospital employee informed her that her baby had died. They would not allow her to see her baby again‚ and when she asked about the burial‚ the nurse told her it was against the rules and that her child would instead be buried in mass grave. They had her sign some form resembling a "contract" that she didn’t understand. A few years ago‚ I happened to cross paths with a retired RN who happened to work in the SF area during those years with her husband who was a physician. She was quite familiar with‚ and apologetic for‚ the unfortunate practice of black-market adoptions at those hospitals‚ during that era. She was a wealth of information and informed me that we are possibly looking for a child with a birth certificate filed within a few days of 7/2/76 with the generic name "Baby Boy" on the birth certificate. The retired RN I spoke with mentioned that the hospital staff would not have filed a false death certificate for these types of situations due to the legal implications of filing a false death record.
On May 27‚ 2022 - We confirmed with the vital records office in San Francisco that there is a certificate of live birth but no death record exists for my brother which confirms he did not die in the hospital on July 3‚ 1976 and that the hospital indeed lied.
393. JanetAnnAdams : Looking for my half brother. Born as James Adams I believe.
I hear he was adopted and possibly moved out to the
mid west from the east coast.
My fathers Name is Roger Adams. I do not know my
half brothers mothers name

Monica Rogers (mother who was born in Germany)
Patrick Thomas Rogers (Monica’s husband)

396. Coonielady : I am seeking a sibling who was born in late 1957 or early 1958. My mother’s name was Emma Lee Wells. She served in the Navy prior to her pregnancy so the birth was most likely in the Newport‚ Rhode Island area but may have been in Massachusetts.
397. Nutinupmysleeve : I have found my (deceased) birth mother and her family. They have welcomed me with open arms. I have been unable to find my birth father. The birth certificate I sent away for when they opened the adoption records listed father unknown. She came from Charlestown/South Kingstown area and married into an Italian family from Centerdale‚ Rhode Island‚ named Calise. She was a widow with 4 teenage children when she became pregnant with me. Her name was Gertrude Stedford Calise and I was born in Cranston in May 1959 and was immediately given up for adoption with Childrens Friend and Service.
399. Rm2784 : My grandmother (deceased) gave up a baby boy in 1956 when she was just 16. She was sent to a home for unwed mothers but i don’t know the name of it. We recently discovered that Children's Friend and Services of Rhode Island did the adoption and the boy was adopted on May 1st 1958. His father at the time was an electrical engineer. Well this is still more to go on than we had before it's still not much so I'm hoping to connect.
400. Blmccar : The mother was from Harvey‚ ND and was very young. She was sent to a school in the Fargo‚ ND area for pregnant teens. Our sister would have been born in Fargo North Dakota. The year is kind of a guess.
The mother’s maiden last name is Michelson. The adoption may have taken place in Fargo‚ ND.
405. Justine1974 : I’m looking for my half sister. My mother had to give her up for adoption at birth forced by her parents. My mothers maiden name is Diane Francine Carbo. My adopted half sister I’m looking for was given the name Johnna Francine Carbo at birth. She was born in Cranston RI at a home/hospital on December 4th in 1967‚ 1968‚ or 1969. My mother tried to find her for years. I have also and am trying again.
I was matched with my birth mother just minutes after setting up my profile. It turns out that she had been searching for me for years. It's been a joy to connect with her and the rest of my biological family.
