274. Margaretocallaghan : I am searching for my Birth Brother, Michael O’Callaghan born in Oldchurch Hospital Romford,Essex England on 20th June 1945,to Margaret Mary O’Callaghan. Margaret was a Ward Maid at the same hospital. I do know that he left England sometime in his teens, maybe Canada, Australia or even to Ireland the home of his birth mother. It is of course possible that Michael does not know he was adopted, but I believe he was. He had a stepbrother in England with whom he lived along with his adopted Father or Mother. The stepbrother as far as I know still lives in the family home but does not know where Michael is as they lost contact when he left home...
You may be thinking well if she knows all this why cant she find him? Well the Social Services in this Country will not or are not able to trace a birth sibling if they are not resident in England. They know his adopted name but are not allowed to give it to me..I am was born 2yrs later in 1947 and given the name Margaret. We are both illegitimate. I know that Michael is my brother because it has been confirmed by Social Services and I also have his birth certificate with his mothers signature, which is also the same as the signature on mine.
This is all very frustrating as you can imagine, so, if anybody knows Michael or his adopted name, then I would be very pleased to hear from you.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this :)
