301. Crosby1811 : I’m looking to understand my grandmother’s adoption. She is the last of her generation alive and has dementia. Her birth certificate does not have a first name‚ only a last name‚ Lynch. All these years we have thought her maiden name was McGuinness. (Patrick and Margaret McGuinness raised her and we believe she had three brothers: Gerry‚ Jim and Jack. She was the youngest). The McGuinness side of the family doesn’t seem to know that she was adopted. She was born in Dublin. Grew up in Drimnagh under the name Elizabeth McGuinness. She married my grandfather in 1957 in Dublin and her name changed to Crosby. They moved to USA in 1963. Both her parents had died at some point before she emigrated with my grandfather‚ father and aunt. We cannot seem to find adoption papers.
In case there is more specific information I might be able to provide.

I was matched with my birth mother just minutes after setting up my profile. It turns out that she had been searching for me for years. It's been a joy to connect with her and the rest of my biological family.
