Harry was born in Maidstone, Kent in 1940, probably between April and June. He was the third of five children, having two older brothers and two younger sisters. Harry was about 4 or 5 when he was adopted, after his mother’s death, around 1945. Harry and sister, Joan, were adopted separately, outside of the family.
