My name is Tracey and when my mother was 15/16 she got pregnant and was sent away to Portsmouth where she stayed with a family her parents knew and gave birth to a baby boy on the 14th of September 1972/1973 My mother has always kept his birth certificate which has the name he was given by her as Andrew Tumilty. A matron came in the day after she gave birth took him and she never seen him again. This was very much a forced adoption. With her being so young‚ no income and parents who were actually her grandparents as they adopted her when her biological mother died when she herself was 6 months old. They were very much the type that looked down on the fact she got pregnant at a young age so she she didn’t have a choice. She told me about it when I was 16 I’m now 44. I have thought about my brother everyday since being told and always wondered if he had a good life a happy life. My mother talks about him everyday and always has. I would love to know how he is.
