376. John1950 : My son ‚ who we named Steven was born at Freedom Fields hospital in Plymouth 5/10/71.
His mother Pauline Vesty‚ was approx 19 years of age . I understand that the social worker at the time convinced her to have our baby adopted against my will. Sadly‚ at that time because we were not married my wishes did not count. I begged her not to go ahead but her mind was made up and without me knowing she didn’t even put my name on the birth certificate. Many years later I contacted her in an attempt to find my son but she had not informed her family and wanted nothing to do with him. I am now 75 years of age and suffering ill health‚ my dearest wish would be to see my son just simply to say I’m sorry. I hope he had a good adoption and a happy‚ contented life . I waited years hoping he might find me but of course I didn’t realise I wasn’t on the birth certificate until 15 years ago.
To my son‚ Steven‚ if you read this I have always had a place for you in my heart‚ I fought for you but the authorities wouldn’t recognise my plea . I am an old feeble man who would dearly love to know you are happy and well.
My name is John Westlake contact me.
Thank you for listening.

I talk about my son Aaron to my children and often wonder what he looks like now. I want nothing more then to get to see my son again there has always been a piece of me missing but adoption at the time was the safest and only option .. we were under mid decon social services Clara keegan was the social worker that dealt with the adoption from tiverton.. he was adopted to a lovely couple I met at the tiverton social services office they were called Lynn and Simon they spoke of a don the previously adopted whom they did a life story book and said they would do that for Aaron so I would send pictures to them with letters
388. Suzannebeats : His birth name was Gary Congdon Batten born in Plymouth‚ Davonport 5th Aug 1962 to Maureen Barbara Batten. He was then adopted.
My dad was a serving soldier in Plymouth and was only told about him after the birth and adoption had happened.
It would be nice to have contact‚ I'm 10 years younger. I did reach out to his sibling (same bio mum) but wasn't met with any help or information. Maureen went on to marry Kenneth Tunnycliffe and remained in Plymouth. Gary I'm not sure where he went or if his name was changed.
