691. LindaCampion : Clive Martin Carter b 1/5/1962 to Beryl Carter (her widowed surname was Carter née Aucott) and registered by Beryl 5/6/1962‚ although he was given to a Mr and Mrs Stanley at two weeks old from the hospital at 134 Heathfield Rd‚ Handsworth‚ Birmingham.
Beryl had to return to her two young daughters and work to support them as she had no income or pension at all.
The certificate has registered sub district Perry Bar‚ Birmingham. The Father J Murray was not on the birth certificate and not on the scene after birth. A copy of the certificate obtained in 2001does not have adopted on it. Could it be one of a few that was missed? Or was he not legally adopted. From scant information and a letter Beryl wrote it appears he wasn’t adopted at that time however he may have been registered in the Stanley name at a later date or even by himself upon reaching 16‚ we don’t know.
Was his Christian name changed?
Beryl visited the Stanley’s to check them out and deliver some baby clothes ( this was a few weeks after the birth)
She couldn’t take him off them as she saw the pleading and love in their eyes. She said to contact her if there was ever a problem!
She did go around again however they had left and disappeared!
She buried her hurt and eventually some years later emigrated on the ten pound Pom scheme to Australia to escape looking at every little boy to find him.
There are two sisters looking for Clive they desperately want to find him and tell him‚ his story‚ the circumstances surrounding that dreadful day his Mother gave him up and how loved and wanted he was by Beryl and still is by them. How she searched for him many times over the years! Sadly she is now deceased.
The story goes‚ the Stanley’s they were well off‚ had a big house and maybe a business. A garage‚ tv shop or he was a photographer. It is thought they l lived/worked in Perry Bar or Sutton Coldfield (vice versa)
There is thought to have been a Nanny.
However it’s only in a little girls memory of what little her Mother mentioned about him.
Beryl liked the name Dean Anthony all her life‚ why was he called Clive Martin? Maybe the Stanley’s called him this and Beryl wanted him registered in her surname using the Christian name they had given him?
Beryl’s address at the time of Clive’s birth was 4/172 Hospital st‚ Birmingham.
