345. Paulinewait : Adoption carried out by Nottingham social services. Social worker. I took my daughter with the social worker to Wakefield Yorkshire where she was handed over to her adoptive parents. I gave her the name Anna‚ but was told that it was changed to Alison. And that the family were teachers & lived in Staffordshire. I was 19 years at the time & a student nurse. Her father was John Hogg we were to be married in April 1965. He decided not to go ahead a few days before the wedding. The catholic priest who was going to marry us ‚arranged for me to go into Borrowash Derbyshire for the few weeks before the birth. This was a place for pregnant girls to go before the birth & the child would then be adopted into a good catholic family. After the birth I chose to go into the care of a friend & then through the adoption process mentioned above. John Hogg moved to Canada & I know this only by looking him up. He was at St Mary’s college London when I knew him. & his family lived in Epsom. I live in Australia. Married & have 2 children & 6 grandchildren. I am 80 years old this year. Nearing the end of my life & really only want to do this to let my daughter know who her father was‚ & the circumstances that led to her adoption.
