145. Chris_v : My mother’s name at the time of my half brothers birth was Margaret Rosina Dawe of Ladies Mile Ellersley, Auckland. She was was born in March 1934 in Napier. Unfortunately she passed away when she was 80 however there are 3 other siblings looking for our brother. Mum gave birth at Bethany Ponsonby in Auckland in June or July in 1963 to a boy. Being a Catholic from a large family, she put our brother up for adoption. This was organised by the Salvation Army. The fathers name was Barrie Waterhouse-Brown and he worked in a bank at the time. We do not believe that his name was recorded on the actual birth certificate. In 1968 Mum moved to Australia. Unfortunately Mum did not tell us about our half brother and had a veto placed on search. She never did get around to searching for her lost son before she died. We have been using Ancestry DNA to try and find an unexpected DNA match. Hopefully some of this rings true to someone who is looking for their birth mother.

146. Billieboy : Taken from mother at birth or a short time after. I had never been told I was adopted‚ brought up as adoptive parents child. There was a phone call to my adoptive home when I was around 7-8 years old‚ I picked up the phone‚ and a woman asked me my name. When I replied it was Bill‚ she replied I had a brother called Bill. My adoptive father - who may actually be my real father grabbed the phone off me and screamed down the line for her to never call again. My mother may be a relative of my adoptive mother‚ and did not give me up willingly.

His adopted parents are James Follas and Mary Ann Follas of Devonport, Auckland. Mary Ann was a Midwife during the years that my Grandfather was born, so there may be a connection somewhere there.
