The girl was taken in by the family welfare agency of Candelaria la Nueva in the city of Bogotá in 2006. Her name was Shirley Vanesa Ortiz Arévalo and the family advocate who handled the case was named Cecilia Alfonzo. Her mother’s name was Sandra Liliana Arévalo Moreno and her father’s name was Nelson Enrique Ortiz Rueda.

The hospital placed me in the orphanage "La casa de la madre y niño" and I was given the name Matilda Osorio Ortiz.
I was then chosen for adoption by an american family living in Bogota at the time‚ Janice and Robert Burns at the age of 3 months. At 6 months I traveled on a Colombian passport with them to live in Pakistan for my first 5 years and then continued to live anound the world in many countries over my lifetime. My adoptive parents gave me the name Tayah Maria Burns which I kept until I married at the age of 21. My last name is now Macdonald although I have been single with three children of my own now since 2000. I have been living in Ottawa Ontario Canada since 1993.
About 7 or 8 yrs ago I submited my DNA to Ancestry.com to see what I could find. Apparently I have distant 2nd cousins somewhere out there and I am approximately half Colombian and half Spanish from Spain with a small trace of other countries thrown in.
I tried to send a message to the distant cousins with no responce. They may not have had an active account Im not sure.
I would greatly appreciate any guidance you might provide in next steps to try and locate my parent or any distant relatives.
