My birth mother (who was from Newfoundland) was 21 years old and no longer in a relationship with my birth father (also from Newfoundland). He was 24 years old at the time of my birth and was not aware my mother was pregnant. My mother had an older brother who was 22 at the time.
After birth I was sent back to St. John’s‚ Newfoundland and was placed in two different foster homes before being placed with my adoptive parents in February 1971. The adoption took place about 6 months later (July 1971). At that time‚ we lived in Corner Brook‚ NL.
