Living in Shildon, County Durham at the time of my birth.
My parents met at an engineering company called Darchem Engineering in a village called Stillington.
I believe his family owned a wool shop and they were aware of my existence.
I did try to make contact when I was 16 by getting my mum to phone my father’s mother ( my grandmother) but she wasnt very amenable to contact.
I’m am aware he may be married with other children and may not have told them about me.
I have no wish to intrude on his life unless he would want me too.
I would just really like to know where I came from, if I look like my biological father and if there’s any hereditary illness’s I should know about.
I have no anger towards him, they were both very young at the time and circumstances were very difficult.

2. MelseyT : My child was born in Redcar, (Cleveland), Yorkshire, and his birth-mother’s name was Margaret Husband, my name is Melvyn Taggart. His name at birth was Robert Husband, and he was born at home on the High Street, Redcar, where his Grandparents were present. I believe the couple who adopted him were either local, from a nearby town in Cleveland, or possibly from County Durham. It is possible they retained his first hame, Robert, but added a middle name - which I do not remember. I moved for work purposes at the age of 19 from Redcar to London before Robert was born.
