138. LaurenMarie85 : My father was a twin. They told my Nonna that one of the twins died but they never let her see the baby. My father was born sick and they didn’t trust that they would take care of the baby since they already lost one so my Nonno took my father from the hospital and nursed him back to health on her own at home. We all think that the baby could have been taken in an illegal adoption from the hospital. In 1955 and in Italy
this was highly likely.
Babies were born Oct 8‚ 1955 in Italy (possibly Near Polermo‚ Sicily) I do not know what hospital they were at‚ but family was from Alia.
I do not know if the twins were identical or not and We think it was a boy‚ but not sure.
140. Lseveri53 : All we know is Roberto was adopted aged between 9 months and 18 months of age. He was in an orphanage in Milan and adopted by Alessandro severi resident from Italy and his wife moira severi who was English but had dual nationality with Italy.

I am pretty certain that he was either born or adopted out from the Ospedale della Pieta in Venice.
Thank you
Rose Nivisi.

150. SCArnold : My Mothers story:
"I was born in an orphanage home on the 24 October 1962 around 1:00 am in a small town called Palmi (Reggio Calabria Italy).
I was told that my biological mother was a servant/maid/cleaner at this orphanage where she ended up giving birth.
I was baptised on the 26 October 1962‚ just two days after I was born.
I remained in the Orphanage until approximately the age of 3.
I was adopted out to a family named Mrs Carmela Natoli nee Messina and Mr Felice Natoli approximately around 1965‚ where we lived with my adopted mother’s mother Concetta Messina and her single sister Caterina Messina. They lived at "Rocco Pugliese Trav. N3 Palmi (R.C)".
I have also being told that my biological father was from America who was in the navy and they stopped at a port near Palmi 1962‚ and my biological mother fell in love and got pregnant.
I have tried to find out more‚ but every time I have been given a different story‚ no-one seems to want to be honest with me. The only two people from my hometown who really knew my biological mother where two old Sisters‚ Carmela and Maria Satriano‚ they both have passed away many years ago.
When I was adopted‚ my birth certificate was done in a way that my adopted parents were my "real" parents‚ and that my natural biological mother couldn’t be traced.
My biological mother apparently named me Angela‚ but my adopted parents named me Raffaella Natoli‚ and they always referred to me by my middle name Marina."
I was matched with my birth mother just minutes after setting up my profile. It turns out that she had been searching for me for years. It's been a joy to connect with her and the rest of my biological family.
