A Few of Our Members Currently Searching Within Zimbabwe Who Chose To Be Featured
196. Markfrankzw : Hi there my name is Mark Frenk I’m searching for my mom’s long lost half sister Helen or Helene she’s Half German on her dad’s side and Half Matabele on her mom’s side
197. Naytjie2 : I am an amateur genealogist and I am researching for a friend of mine who would like to find out more about her birth parents.
Her adoptive parents have never given her a copy of her birth certificate and so she does not have any information to go on. All she assumes from discussions with her adoptive parents is that she was adopted in Bulawayo‚ Zimbabwe.
198. Nickhg : I was born at the Lady Chancellor Maternity Hospital. I found my original birth certificate with the names of Marilyn Bird and Renato Natale Armanni as my birth parents.
My father has now passed on so I have understood.
Simply looking to make some form of contact with my mother hopefully before it's too late.
200. Pieterpan : I am a 33 year old mail born 3 April 1981 in a hospital in bulawayo. Was born with blond hair and blue eys. Looking for my birth mother. Was adopted by a couple from zimbabwe then known as rohdesia.
201. SianFlynn-Coleman : So far through DNA testing‚ we seemed to have found my mother's biological paternal line (her biological father)‚ but we have not yet managed to find any definitive details on her birth mother. The name of her biological father was Peter Clifton William Hodgson‚ who we never met as he sadly passed away at a very young age‚ leaving behind his wife and seven children (my mother's half siblings) at the time. He worked as a mechanic in Southern Rhodesia / Zimbabwe before his death in 1975.
My mother was given up for adoption when she was just days old in October of 1962 in Rhodesia (Zimbabwe).
The details surrounding her adoption are hazy as she was never told much‚ but what we do know is that she was adopted by her non-biological parents in Salisbury / Bulawayo from a woman's home / nunnery at the time. She always assumed she was the illigitimate child of a young (possibly) teen mother at the time‚ who was taken in to give birth at one of these homes and subsequently give her baby up for adoption.
Finding clues as to her maternal lineage would help to close many unanswered questions and curiosities we have about her maternal ancestry‚ and we would be very interested to find if we have extended family out there that we could connect with :)
I was matched with my birth mother just minutes after setting up my profile. It turns out that she had been searching for me for years. It's been a joy to connect with her and the rest of my biological family.
