My grandmother was sent a letter from the grandmother of the adopted child explaining that a baby girl had been born and would be adopted out. The family of the child who was adopted out lived in Christchurch, New Zealand but may have moved to the North Island due to the daughter becoming pregnant either before or after the adopted child was born? (The father of the girl who was pregnant was the Chief Postmaster in Christchurch at the time)

My fathers name is Tony O’Neill I’m not even sure if he would be on the birth certificate. The closet maternity hospital was Stratford. Campbell family who farmed in coastal Taranaki (RAHOUTU) KAREN (nee BROOKING) gave birth to a baby girl 6 weeks prematurely on 18/9/1976 and named her ALICIA JAY in TARANAKI BASE HOSPITAL. Baby Alicia was adopted by a local couple KATHYRYN and MALCOLM MORTLOCK .the adoption was permitted in the same area due to the premature birth and that the adoptive mother was a nurse.

My grandmother put male/female twins up for adoption sometime in the mid 60s - early 70s but was told the male twin passed before ever reaching his adoptive family. My grandmother was Jeanette Margaret Wanstall (11/4/51 - 1/5/14) the adoption would have been in the north island potentially in the waikato/auckland regions.
