My mother gave up a son for adoption when I was six or seven. Decades later, as she was hospitalized with cancer, she was contacted by a State of Wisconsin Social Worker inquiring on behalf of her adopted son. She did not want to be contacted. After her death, I was wondering if I could meet him. The baby was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1967. We lived on the North Side, so it was likely at St. Joseph’s Hospital or St. Micwhael’s. Mom’s name was Jeanneen Strauss. Her maiden name was Skibbie. She died on 7/14/2004. I do not know the father’s name. Mom was white, and the baby was mixed race, so I assume the father was black. I recall conversations that indicated he lived in Mequon, Wisconsin at some point in time. I hope to meet and his family some day soon.
