My brother’s name was Dennis Dale Fiscus. Removed from grandparents home in Deerfield‚ Dane‚ Wisconsin in December 1954. He was born in Cook County Hospital in Chicago‚ Illinois. It is possible that he was adopted in either Wisconsin or Illinois. My oldest sister says he was placed at the Martin Luther Home in Stoughton‚ Wisconsin but the records for this orphanage says they did not take children less than 10 years old after 1940. The records for 1940-1956 were lost in a fire at that orphanage as well as the orphanage where myself and 2 other siblings were adopted from near Wausau‚ Wisconsin at the same time. The historical society and library in Stoughton‚ Wisconsin were trying to locate other children that were placed there during the time before the fires. Records I have from my foster came from Wisconsin Welfare but I was told that I and my 2 siblings were adopted through Lutheran Social Services. I found a foster parent certificate for the people who raised us but never found the adoption papers in my parents’ papers. There were 2 newspaper ads I found that stated that someone petitioned the court to remove parental rights for Dennis Dale Fiscus. He was not the only child of my parents. There were 10 children and over the time from 1944-1963 eight of the 10 children who were in the grandparents care while the parents worked out of state‚ were put out for adoption by the grandmother without the parents knowledge.
