My mother’s adopted name was Genevieve Crawford. I don’t know much about my mother’s biological parents. From what my mom said, her bio parents eloped and were married by a Justice of the Peace in 1915. Shortly after the marriage, her bio father went off to war in France and he was never heard from again. My mom’s bio mom was pregnant and her bio grandfather, a strict Irish Catholic, did not recognize the marriage. He forced her to give my mother up for adoption. My mom was placed in an orphanage in Wisconsin. She was two years old when she was adopted by Joseph and Grace Crawford from Minneapolis. It is believed that my mom’s bio mom’s name was Margaret Bryant, but not sure.
