My husband has been looking for his son‚ Curtis Hines Jr. He was adopted in Seattle‚ Washington while in the military‚ after trusting his lawyer‚ who convinced him to sign a document for temporary guardianship‚ but it actual adoption papers. His wife at the time had a mental breakdown and his son was placed in the care of a Caucasian family. He was supposed to be at every hearing but having to walk miles to get there from his military location‚ he would be a few minutes late. His attorney told him if he didn’t sign a form for the family to have temporary custody‚ he wouldn’t be able to see his son anymore. It seems that he signed over custody without knowing.
