The son I call Matthew was born in Richmond, VA at Memorial Hospital on 12-5-1982, after having spent the last few months of my pregnancy with The Nuns at Seton House. (The address I have for Seton House is 8000 Washington Highway, which is now part of Hollybrook Apartments). I had come from Langley AFB, in Hampton, VA, where I was still living with my parents, where my dad was in the Air Force. The BF’s mother was also in the Air Force. The agency I worked through was Catholic Services (Catholic Home Bureau, Inc.), located in Hampton, VA. Alice Alvord was the lady who helped me. Alice sent me a beautiful letter once Matthew was placed on January 14, 1983, stating that the adopting parents knew the "great love" we had for our child. The letter has potentially identifying information about the adoptive parents. I’m comfortable disclosing that they were married in the Catholic Church, and very much in love. The letter allowed me a little peace after making the hardest decision of my life. I think of this child, now a man, often, and hope his life has been full of love. I would be honored to meet him and introduce him to 5 siblings and extended family, especially my parents. I recently gifted my parents Ancestry.com kits, and we are still awaiting results. Through them, my information will be on the site. I hope it’s fruitful.
